Just for the heck of it!

I have nothing particular to blog about. Just that we here in the Marsh household are getting VERY excited for the holidays. We start things off with a bang in Zion for Thanksgiving. (It will be Sydney's first vacation!) I'm excited that it will be my favorite holiday that we get to celebrate for her landmark outing. Then our second vacation will be to Cali for Christmas. So many fun things happening in the next two months. Nate and I are really, really excited for a change in the routine. I mean routines are good, but really we need to shake things up and what better way to do that than with two vacations! It will be sooooo nice! And finally, because we can't have Sydneyless post, here is a photo for your enjoyment!

Happy Halloween!!!

This was a very eventful Halloween! Nate successfully finished Sydney's costume this week. We were able to spend time with lots of family and friends, and show off our cute Gumby and Friends theme. Enjoy! Photos will tell more than I can!

Two Months!

Today Sydney had her two month wellness appointment and mommy and daddy got all their questions answered. So we found out that she is 8.88 lbs and 23 inches long. She is definitely a noodle! I also found out that she is exhibiting signs of reflux and that we have to monitor her spitting up. Fun, right! We get to count the spit-up and now mom gets to give up milk and chocolate. I guess that means that I will loose the weight faster! Let's look at the bright side right. However, I'm having a really difficult time justifying the rejection of hot chocolate. So I might cheat. I only feel extremely guilty that my weakness involves both food items that might be causing Sydney to spit up. I hope she will forgive me for the occasional cup of hot chocolate. And I hope she will forgive me for the pain I let happen to her today: she got her shots. It made me so sad; I couldn't watch. I had to turn away and let the nurse poke her. This whole thing better be worth it! She better not get sick with anything we just immunized for because I don't want to hear her scream like that ever again. Now I'm giving her children's tylenol just so that she can stand to be awake. I remember those hepatitis shots! They hurt! It stinks that she had to get the shots today, but she will be getting even with mom and dad because Dr. Mumford said we need to get shots too. He said that this year is going to be crazy because of the swine flu and that Nate and I should get both flu shots because Sydney is too little to get vaccinated. Thus the pain comes full circle, and Sydney and I will not be leaving the house this winter. All I can say is thank freakin goodness we got cable! And thank goodness people write good books. And I'm also very thankful for hand sanitizer and baby tylenol. It's the little things that really matter!

Everyone is doin it Natalie!!!

Since I'm a blog stalker, I stole this quiz from Natalie Ashton's blog. I thought I would shake things up on the blog.

What are your middle names?

Elizabeth and Swain.

How long have you been together?

We have been married 3 years and 4 months. And we dated for a year before that, so a grand total of 4 years and 4 months ish.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?

5 months. 5 glorious months of home teaching visits and sacrament meetings.

Who asked who out?

After 5 months Nate finally got up the courage to ask me out.

Who made the first move?

There is a little discrepancy over this issue. . . according to Nate I did and I know he did;) I doesn't really matter though; the only thing that matters is that it happened.

How old are each of you?

24 and 27. It's a good age gap. Nate likes to pretend that he is a lot older and wiser than me.

Did you go to the same school?

Yes, we are both cougars

Are you from the same home town?

Nope. He is a Jersey boy and I'm a Cali girl.

Who is the smartest?

Me of course. (Okay, not really. Nate is extremely smart!)

Who majored in what?

I majored in English and Nate majored in Psychology.

Who is the most sensitive?

Me! Hands down, me.

Where do you eat out most as a couple?

It's probably a tie between Zupas and Costa Vidas. As a matter of fact we might go there tonight.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?

Hawaii.

Who has the worst temper?

Again hands down me. I really think that sometimes Nate has two emotions: Happy and tired.

How many children do you want?

I think we'll just work with the one we have.

Who does the cooking?

Me. Occasionally, Nate will surprise me with a meal.

Who is more social?

It's a tie.

Who is the neat-freak?

Me. I'm OCD. But having a baby has loosened me up to a moderately messy life.

Who is the most stubborn?

I think we are about equal in this area as well. There are just different things we are stubborn about.

Who wakes up earlier?

Me. Nate works some nasty graves and then he takes care of Sydney at night. (I love when he does that!)

Where was your first date?

Bekah's Valentine's Day party. Hahhaha. Good times!

Who has the bigger family?

Nate. Three brothers and one sister.

Do you get flowers often?

Ummmm....our money is going to diapers and wipes. Sadly, flowers are no more.

How do you spend the holidays?

Thanksgiving with one family and Christmas with the other. We switch it up every year.

Who is more jealous?

I don't know if Nate or I know how to be jealous. He always tells me that if some other guy is checking me out he doesn't care because Nate is the one who gets to take me home. I feel the same way if girls are checking him out.

How long did it take to get serious?

About 9 months.

Who eats more?

Definitely me! I am the consistent eater.

What do you do for a living?

I'm a mother and an admin assistant. Nate is a father and a behavior specialist.

Who does/did the laundry?

We used to do our own laundry now it falls to whoever has the time to throw in a load.

Who’s better with the computer?

Nate.

Who drives when you are together?

We switch off. Usually Nate drives more now because Sydney's car seat makes less room on the passenger's side.

What is "your" song?

I guess it would be Rascal Flatts "Broken Road". At least that is what we danced to at our wedding.

Rise and Shout Sydney is out!

It is officially football season!!! Nate couldn't wait to get his little girl her first BYU Cheerleading outfit! On the day of the Ok vs BYU game we made a trip to the BYU bookstore to get Sydney a cute, pink outfit. Danni even helped us pick it out. The bummer of the whole deal is that Sydney is still too small for the outfit, but Nate didn't care because he views it as a two sport investment. (Football and basketball.) We are having fun dressing her up for sure! So here is Sydeny showin her true blue (and pink) love for BYU.

Sydvicious so delicious!

We had the two-week wellness appointment this week annnnnd Sydney is still perfect! She is only in the 8th percentile for her weight, but she is gaining. At her last appointment she was 5 lbs 10 oz, and this time she was 6 lbs 10 oz. (There is definitely no failure to thrive with her. When she feeds she acts like its the first time she's eaten in days. Of course she spews half of it back up, but at least its not hurting her and she is gaining weight!) Also, I discovered why the child had an intense need to feed every hour for a couple of days: She grew two inches! She is now 20 inches long. So she is heading in a direction to be long and lean just like her dad.

We are both thrilled that she is doing so well. For a newborn she is a suprisingly well behaved and strong! She spends tummy time lifting her little head off the floor, and she really only cries when there is something she needs. (Thank goodness!) And Nate and I are even lucky to get an occasional four hour stint of sleep at night! (We are still looking forward to the night that she'll sleep through, but Dr. Mumford says it will be awhile before that happens.) Sydney really is an amazing little person. She even smiles at me! (And I don't think it's gas!)
